# Digistore24 alternative: how do vendors sell their own products for less?

**The problem**
"I sell my own course to my own email list. Digistore24 takes 7.9% + €1 on every sale, and not one of those buyers came from an affiliate."

A Digistore24 alternative for vendors who bring their own buyers is a merchant of record without an affiliate marketplace. AgentaOS is the legal seller of each sale like Digistore24, handles the buyer's VAT and invoice, and charges 4.5% + €0.50 per card sale with no monthly fee, against the 7.9% + €1 in Digistore24's help center. You give up Digistore24's affiliate network, so this only fits if your sales come from your own audience.

This page is for vendors selling their own products. AgentaOS has no affiliate marketplace. If you are an affiliate looking for offers to promote, look at networks such as ClickBank or JVZoo instead.

### What does Digistore24 charge vendors?

Digistore24's help article [Costs at Digistore24 GmbH (Germany)](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23694504392721-Costs-at-Digistore24-GmbH-Germany) says: "Digistore24 as a reseller of your products receives a margin of 7.9% + 1 € per transaction." The part of a price above €400 gets a 3% discount, so 4.9% on that part. For US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand buyers, [Costs on Digistore24 Inc. (US)](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23694606727057-Costs-on-Digistore24-Inc-US) says: "The regular margin for all products is 7.9% + $1 per sale", rising to 9.9% + $1 if chargebacks pass 1%.

Digistore24's [pricing page](https://www.digistore24.com/pricing) shows a different headline: "Starting at 2.9% + $1 per sale", with the note "Final rate may vary depending on product type, traffic source, and/or sales volume." The two pages disagree. Ask Digistore24 which rate your account pays before you compare.

Digistore24's own example: a German buyer pays €100 including 19% VAT, and Digistore24 takes €8.90 (7.9% + €1).

### Who is the legal seller on Digistore24?

Digistore24 is. Its article [The reseller model on Digistore24](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23298594798225-The-reseller-model-on-Digistore24) says: "you sell your product to Digistore24, and Digistore24 resells it to the buyer." And: "the buyer's legal contract partner is Digistore24, not you." Digistore24 then charges the buyer's VAT, sends the invoice and handles returns.

So when you leave, a plain payment button makes you the seller, and EU VAT and invoices land on you. To avoid that, switch to another reseller, also called a merchant of record. AgentaOS works the same way: it is the legal seller of each sale and handles the buyer's VAT, invoices, refunds and chargebacks ([facts](https://agentaos.ai/facts)).

### How do Digistore24 payouts work?

Per [Payout: Set dates and thresholds](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23548523136529-Payout-Set-dates-and-thresholds), payouts run on up to four dates a month: the 7th (minimum €50) and the 14th, 21st and 28th (minimum €200), or €250 for international transfers. The [vendor payout setup](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23461749197457-Set-up-payout-account-as-a-vendor) defaults to the 7th and 21st and offers PayPal, SEPA, US ACH or international bank transfer, depending on the reseller.

Its [security deposit article](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23541782156433-About-the-security-deposit) says 10% of your earnings is "retained in your Digistore24 account for 60 days for each product sale", and the other 90% is paid after 14 days for products under €300.

One rule surprises many sellers. Digistore24's [payout questions page](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23544585099665-Your-most-important-questions-regarding-your-payouts) says: "it's only possible to make payouts to companies and not to private individuals. That's why you need a VAT ID or tax number as a small business owner."

AgentaOS accepts individuals; no company is needed ([facts](https://agentaos.ai/facts)). Payouts run twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th, in EUR or USD, to your own bank in 86 countries ([payouts docs](https://docs.agentaos.ai/payouts/overview.md)).

### How do Digistore24 fees compare with other options?

Payment fees per sale only, each from the platform's own page, checked 7 November 2026.

| Platform | Fee per sale | Monthly fee | Legal seller, handles VAT? | Affiliate marketplace? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [Digistore24](https://help.digistore24.com/hc/en-us/articles/23694504392721-Costs-at-Digistore24-GmbH-Germany) | 7.9% + €1 (help center); "Starting at 2.9% + $1" ([pricing page](https://www.digistore24.com/pricing)) | None | Yes, reseller | Yes, "125,000+ affiliates" per its pricing page |
| [AgentaOS](https://agentaos.ai/facts) | 4.5% + €0.50 per card sale; 6.0% + €0.50 for cards issued outside the EEA | None | Yes | No |
| [Gumroad](https://gumroad.com/pricing) | 10% + $0.50 direct; 30% via its Discover marketplace | "no monthly charges" | Yes, since 1 January 2025 | Not checked |
| [Lemon Squeezy](https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/pricing) | 5% + 50¢; "Some payments may be subject to additional fees" | None for payments | Yes | Not checked |
| [Payhip](https://payhip.com/pricing) | 5% (Free), 2% (Plus), 0% (Pro), plus PayPal or Stripe fees | $0, $29 or $99 | Not checked | Not checked |

On Digistore24's own €100 example, Digistore24 takes €8.90. On the same €100, AgentaOS takes €5.00 for an EEA card, or €6.50 for a card issued outside the EEA. Both fees are calculated on the full amount the buyer pays, VAT included.

### Who should switch, and who should stay?

**Stay on Digistore24** if affiliates bring a real share of your sales. That network is what the higher fee pays for, and AgentaOS has nothing like it.

**Switch** if you sell your own course, e-book, template or software to your own email list, ads or social following, and the affiliate column in your Digistore24 reports is close to zero. Or run both: Digistore24 for affiliates, your own link for your list.

**What AgentaOS lets you sell.** Digital products, courses, software, subscriptions, and services only as fixed-price packages ([Terms, section 21](https://agentaos.ai/terms)). No physical goods and no custom per-client work ([Terms, section 5](https://agentaos.ai/terms)).

### How do I switch from Digistore24, step by step?

1. **Check your sales mix.** In your Digistore24 reports, see how much came through affiliates. If it is most of it, stop here.
2. **Check your product fits.** Digital product, course, software, subscription or fixed-price package. No printed books, DVDs or other shipped add-ons.
3. **Check your country.** Find it on our [country list](https://agentaos.ai/countries). You can sign up as an individual.
4. **Create the product.** In AgentaOS, add a name, a price in EUR or USD, and pick **One-time** or **Subscription** (**Monthly** or **Yearly**) ([payment links docs](https://docs.agentaos.ai/payments/payment-links.md)).
5. **Set delivery.** Under **After payment**, click **+ Redirect buyers after payment** and enter your download or members page as the **Success URL**.
6. **Swap the button and test.** Replace the Digistore24 order link on your sales page with the product's buyer link. Pay once from a phone, check you land on the product, then refund yourself from the dashboard.
7. **Move new buyers, then get paid.** Point emails and ads at the new link. New sales clear for 14 days and go out on the next payout once at least €50 or $50 is available ([payouts docs](https://docs.agentaos.ai/payouts/overview.md)).

### Checklist: before you leave Digistore24

- ✓ Affiliates bring little or none of your sales
- ✓ Your product is digital, software, a subscription or a fixed-price package, nothing shipped
- ✓ Your country is on our country list
- ✓ A EUR or USD bank account in your own name
- ✓ Product created with the Success URL set to your delivery page
- ✓ Sales page button swapped and a test purchase refunded

### When is AgentaOS the wrong choice?

If affiliates drive your sales, stay on Digistore24 or another affiliate network: AgentaOS has no affiliate marketplace. If you sell physical items such as printed books or DVDs, which Digistore24 accepts, AgentaOS does not sell physical goods. If you need license keys issued per sale, AgentaOS does not issue them. And new accounts start with 15% of each sale held for 120 days ([Terms, section 9](https://agentaos.ai/terms)), longer than Digistore24's 10% for 60 days.
