The short answer

How should you price a productized service?

Price a productized service by the result the buyer gets, not by your hours. Fix the scope, the deliverable, the price and the delivery time, so every buyer gets the same package. Offer two or three tiers, and a monthly package if buyers need the same work again every month.

Common packaging mistakes

Four ways service packages lose buyers

A buyer should know what they get and what it costs before they pay.

  • Mistake 1Open-ended scope“Tell me what you need” means every sale starts with a call.Write down exactly what the package includes, and what it does not.
  • Mistake 2An hourly priceBuyers cannot guess the final bill, so they wait. One fixed price for one fixed result.
  • Mistake 3No tiersSmall buyers find it too big. Big buyers find it too small.Offer a small, a standard and a bigger package.
  • Mistake 4No monthly optionBuyers who need the work every month have to buy again each time.Add a monthly package with the same work each month.

Questions · straight answers

Questions

Fixed-price packages, the same for every buyer.

How do I price a productized service?

Price it by the result the buyer gets, not by your hours. Fix the scope, the deliverable, the price and the delivery time, so every buyer gets the same package. Then offer two or three tiers.

Should a service package be one-off or monthly?

One-off if the buyer needs it once, like a review or an audit. Monthly if they need the same work again every month. A monthly package is a fixed amount of the same work each month, at the same price for every buyer.

Why not charge by the hour?

An hourly price makes buyers guess the final bill, and it pays you less the faster you work. A fixed price tells the buyer what they get and what it costs before they pay.

How many tiers should a productized service have?

Two or three. A small package for a first try, a standard package most buyers choose and a bigger one for buyers who want more. Each tier has its own fixed scope and price.

Which service packages can I sell with AgentaOS?

Fixed-price packages only, the same for every buyer, with the scope, deliverable, price and delivery time set in advance and delivered in digital form. We approve service packages before you sell them. No custom per-client work, no consulting or coaching hours and no physical goods.
