Company and tax

Do I need a company to sell digital products online?

Not to take card payments. With a Merchant of Record like AgentaOS you can sell courses, templates, software and services as an individual, with no company abroad. At home, you still declare the income, and your country may ask you to register as a sole trader once you sell regularly.

Why

The seller is not you

A Merchant of Record is the official seller of your product. Buyers pay it, it charges and files the VAT, and the invoice carries its name. You receive a payout and a self-billed invoice for your books.

That is why payment providers that need a registered business, like Stripe, are not needed at all. See how payouts reach your country.

At home

What stays yours

  1. AlwaysDeclare the income

Payouts are income in your country. Each AgentaOS payout comes with a statement and a self-billed invoice you can give your accountant.

  2. OftenRegister as a sole trader

Many countries expect you to register once selling becomes regular. Ask a local accountant which form fits you.

  3. LaterOpen a company

Worth it for liability, investors or large volumes, not to take your first card payment.
